instead of taking your wife to a packed and overpriced restaurant where you get bad food and worse service on a commercialised occasion, you can spoil her at home.
i am posting this ahead of mothers' day on sunday, but this is also suitable for valentine's day, your wife's birthday, your anniversary. in fact, it is a wonderful idea for any time your wife deserves to be spoilt. why not do this every weekend?
BONUS TIP: this is even more thoughtful and romantic if you invite your entire family, a few of your drinking buds, and some of the neighbours.
BRAAI = BBQ
your wife goes to the shops to buy the meat and the accompanying foods, drinks and snacks. she makes the salad, pap, sauce, butters the breadrolls, and makes dessert. she spices the meat, places it in a bowl, gets the braai tongs and brings it all to you where you are outside by the braai with the men, with a beer in your hand.
you place the meat on the grill. this is very important. your wife goes back inside to ready the cutlery and crockery. she comes out to tell you the meat is burning. you mutter, and ask her to bring you another beer while you turn the meat. you remove the meat when it is done, and give it to your wife. she places all the food on the table, and helps the kids, and dishes up for you.
after dinner, she clears the table, cleans the kitchen and washes the dishes. everybody thanks you for the wonderful braai. later, when you look up from watching tv on the couch, you ask your wife if she enjoyed her 'evening off'.
judging from her facial expression, you conclude that nothing you do, will ever make her happy...
i found this in huisgenoot magazine. it was sent in by karen hefer, jhb. i translated it freely from afrikaans.
