i have put an eyeliner pencil in my shower, so i can write on the tiles.
i don't know about you, but i always think of the most eloquent blogposts, the funniest tweets and most assertive emails while i am in the shower. but when i sit down in front of my computer, they are gone. erased from my memory banks.
it happened again the other morning. i thought of a witty tweet, but by the time i was out of the shower, the tweet had disappeared forever, into the gray matter that is the 'lost property' section of my brain.
so, i put an eyeliner pencil in my shower. i don't use it much anyway, only to draw moles on faces for dress-up parties. and now, when i get a brain wave, i write it on the tiles.
the man really does not like this at all: all the cryptic notes on the tiles, for a medium that he does not understand. but i throw in the odd love note for him, and make sure i wash the notes off regularly, so he puts up with it.
i took a photo of the notes for blogposts, so i could blog about making notes for blogposts.
i also get really good ideas while i am driving, and then i use the voice recorder on my cellphone, like a dictaphone.
'out on the tiles' is a british phrase for going out for a night on the town. it is also the title of a song by the english rock band led zeppelin, from the 1970's, according to wikipedia.
when and where do you get your best ideas?
