i read a book over the weekend. 'mercy' by jody picault. i just love her books. generally i read for relaxation and to escape, so i prefer whodunits and books that require nothing from me, no emotional involvement, no soul-searching, no thinking. the only exception is when i read self-improvement books. i love those, especially ones about finances and business. when i receive a business woman of the year award, i will definitely thank robert kiyosaki, who's 'rich dad, poor dad' has changed the way i look at money forever. and of course my family, who's never-ending hunger for their daily bread keep me from staying in bed reading more often...
this book, 'mercy', is like her other books, so well written. she builds layers. the first, basic layer is this man who loves his wife. she is suffering from advanced cancer. she is going to get sicker, and she is going to die. then she asks him to kill her. the next layer is what happens to the husband after. the consequences of his deed of love. the physical consequences, as well as the emotional ones. then there is the effect this story has on all the other people in the book. i finished the book, but the characters are still inside my head. i am thinking of them all the time. they get under my skin.
have you read this book? and any others of hers? please tell me if they have the same effect on you.
i have not scrapped in a while. made some cards, but no scrapping. not sure why.
i have to run
love, jacki
