Technology... is a queer thing. It brings you great gifts with one hand, and it stabs you in the back with the other. ~C.P. Snow, New York Times, 15 March 1971
darn load shedding...
monday morning the power was out at my house for 4 hours, and tuesday morning at the shop for 4 hours. tonight the power is off at home again. fortunately, my laptop has about 2 hours of battery power, and the internet is wireless, so i can post a blog entry. yet, i am typing this by candlelight to see the keypad. how ironic...
when the power is off, the restaurant and fish and chip shop in my centre have a problem, as do so many businesses. but there are only 2 things i can't do when my shop's power is off. i can't take debit cards, and i can't make coffee. the rest i can manage with pen and paper, a calculator and the old fashioned zip zap credit card machine. i get plenty of light through the windows.
i found instructions in the december issue of Creating Keepsakes Magazine on how to make gift boxes, and man, have i been having fun! will photograph and post them when i have power again. they are sooo quick and easy.. also, find more free downloads on their website for gift tags, etc, here.
battery is almost flat, so...
love, jacki
and, happy birthday, paula! hope you had a great day, sis.
